Chargeback 2.0 will be implemented by the end of January 2025 (week 4) to improve accuracy by integrating late cost adjustments directly into finalized statements. Previously, late bills were carried over to the next period, causing confusion. With this update, adjustments will now be applied to the original usage month, ensuring clearer and more accurate financial reporting.
Chargeback statements in meshStack will now reflect updates even after finalization, marked with an "Updated" label for better visibility. Users will be able to compare changes and track the latest revisions in the Generation Date column.
A new API version, meshTenantUsageReport v3, introduces expanded data fields, making data tracking more comprehensive. CSV exports will now include only the latest finalized data. Users relying on API integrations should switch to meshTenantUsageReport API v3 and use the finalizedAfter parameter to track any late adjustments.
For a limited time, users can revert to Chargeback 1.0 via Settings > Configuration, but starting March 1, 2025, Chargeback 2.0 will become the default.
Some limitations include the cost-backward approach in meshStack UI, where late adjustments reflect in the original period, while APIs support tracking via cost-forward or cost-backward methods. API period formats will now follow a monthly (YYYY-MM) format, and environmental data will be included in the following month’s chargeback due to provider delays. Additionally, only the latest finalized data will be available in CSV exports, and custom Excel reports will no longer be provided.
